Presentation: “Big Data Analytics in the Cloud – The New World Order” by Mike Lampa, Managing Partner, Archipelago IS, LLC

Abstract
Over the last several years the ISP/XaaS/Cloud providers have greatly enhanced data manipulation and processing capabilities to enable users to crunch more data, more quickly, at more affordable costs. The business analytics software layer is exploding with innovations to leverage that increased processing power. From little known start-ups to the mega-stacks, many new capabilities exist to dynamically acquire, curate, blend, enrich and act upon data. These technologies enable more complex data mining, pattern detection, machine learning, predictive modeling, and insight generation – with a minimal reliance upon IT Operations. The “-- as a Service” model (XaaS) offered by Cloud platform providers are making it possible to stand-up complex Big Data Analytics solutions in a matter of days for pennies per gigabyte or processing-second. Learn how these technologies allow enterprises to go beyond traditional on-premise BI and analytics offerings into truly integrated advanced analytics solutions that will ultimately blur the line between business operations and business analytics.

You Will Learn

  • How the hardware layers are evolving from the lowest level chipset to super-clusters to super-computers targeting advanced analytics workloads
  • How software providers are removing the barriers to entry for advanced analytics
  • How emerging Cloud Big Data Analytics services are bundling and provisioning platforms to address various advanced analytic workloads – and disrupt the traditional enterprise/RDBMS market
