Governing Emerging and Diverse Data in the Age of AI – Insights from TDWI's Q4 Blueprint Report

Webinar Speaker: Fern Halper, TDWI VP Research, Senior Research Director for Advanced Analytics

Date: Friday, November 13, 2026

Time: 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET

Organizations have long relied on data governance to ensure that data is trusted, secure, and fit for use. However, as generative and agentic AI expand the use of documents, conversations, images, audio, video, and other unstructured data, traditional approaches to governance are being challenged. Organizations must not only govern a broader range of data sources but also manage the information derived from them, including extracted entities, classifications, summaries, and embeddings.

Although familiar governance disciplines such as data quality, metadata management, lineage, and security remain essential, they must be applied in new ways to address these new requirements.

In this webinar, Fern Halper, Ph.D., VP of Research at TDWI, will present key findings from TDWI's Q4 Blueprint Report: Governing Emerging and Diverse Data in the Age of AI. Drawing on survey research and qualitative insights from data and AI leaders, she will examine how organizations are governing diverse data today, where significant gaps remain, and what organizations reporting greater governance success are doing differently. She will be joined by experts from Snowflake who will share practical perspectives on governing diverse data throughout its life cycle to support trusted analytics and AI.

Topics include:

  • How organizations are expanding data governance to address unstructured and diverse data, and the challenges they face
  • How traditional governance practices, including data quality, classification, metadata, and lineage, must evolve for unstructured and derived data
  • What organizations reporting greater governance success are doing differently to manage diverse data
  • How organizations can govern data from its original source through transformation, enrichment, contextualization, and consumption by analytics and AI
