Data Mesh for Highly Regulated Industries: One Size Does Not Fit All

Webinar Speaker: Fern Halper, TDWI VP Research, Senior Research Director for Advanced Analytics

Date: Tuesday, April 9, 2024

Time: 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET

Interest is growing in the data mesh approach—an organizational and architectural approach to share, access, and manage analytics data in complex and large-scale environments where data ownership is decentralized and each domain owns its own data. At TDWI, we see more organizations embracing the principles of the data mesh. Its decentralized nature can enable scalability, flexibility, and distributed stewardship that allows data teams to be more efficient with data, while utilizing the best-of-breed technologies of their choice.

However, for highly regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, or energy, the data mesh can seem out of reach. For instance, how can data and security teams manage access to sensitive financial data across a distributed system? How can they ensure consistent compliance, data quality, and reporting structures across hybrid architectures?

Join experts from Databricks and Immuta as they discuss the data mesh in regulated industries with TDWI’s Fern Halper. Topics include:

  • What the data mesh is all about; challenges organizations face when trying to implement the data mesh paradigm
  • Why a one-size-fits-all architecture approach doesn’t work with the data mesh in highly regulated industries
  • Supporting federated governance in the data mesh environment
  • How to prove compliant data access and security in the data mesh environment
