Today’s organizations are collecting more data than ever. However, it is one thing to collect diverse data and move to the cloud; it is another to be able to use this data to enable analytics and insights that inform decision makers.
Today’s complex data environments often lead to an “information gap”—the difference between the data an organization collects and the data it’s able to access, understand, and trust in order to gain useful insights, information, and knowledge.
Remedying the information gap requires a solid data infrastructure, new tools, new skills, and strong data governance. Trusted and compliant data is necessary to ensure useful insights.
At its core, closing the information gap will require making data available for use, understanding the data, accessing the right data to perform analytics, and trusting the integrity of the data. This TDWI Insight Accelerator examines these issues and provides best practices.
