Expert Panel: Building the Future with Stream Processing Applications

Webinar Speaker: David Stodder, Senior Director of Research for BI, TDWI

Date: Thrusday, December 15, 2022

Time: 12:00 p.m. PT, 3:00 p.m. ET

Businesses are leveraging stream processing to make smarter and faster business decisions, act on time-sensitive and mission-critical data, obtain real-time analytics and insights, and build applications with real-time features. TDWI research indicates that streaming data is starting to enter the mainstream phase of adoption.

Although the spectrum of use cases continues to expand across an ever-widening range of business objectives, common applications of stream processing include fraud detection, processing IoT sensor data, network monitoring, generating context-aware online advertising, cybersecurity analysis, geofencing and vehicle tracking, and many others.

Join this expert panel to learn more about stream processing applications. Topics include:

  • What stream processing is all about, including benefits and the current state of stream processing
  • How developers can leverage stream processing technology
  • The technical requirements developers should consider when implementing a stream processing solution

Guest Speakers

John Allwright
Head of Product Marketing
Decodable

John Allwright is head of product marketing at Decodable, helping to make streaming data the default for all organizations. Prior to Decodable, John helped to launch developer-facing products with open source foundations with companies including Astronomer, VMware, Pivotal, and Microsoft. Outside of work, John can be found singing with the Seattle Symphony Chorale and on various video game soundtrack recordings and is a volunteer high school computer science teacher.

Darin Briskman
Director of Technology
Imply

Darin Briskman is director of technology at Imply, where he helps developers create modern analytics applications. He began his career at NASA in the 1980s (ask him about rockets!) and has been working with large and interesting data sets ever since. Most recently, he's had various technical and leadership roles at Couchbase, Amazon Web Services, and Snowflake. When he's not writing code, Darin likes to juggle, blow glass (usually not while juggling), and work to help children on the autism spectrum learn to use their special abilities to work better with the neuronormative.

William McLane
CTO Streaming
Datastax

With over 20 years of experience in building, architecting, and designing large scale messaging infrastructure, William (Bill) McLane is a thought leader for global data distribution. William has a history and experience building mission-critical, real-world data distribution architectures that power some of the largest financial services institutions to the global scale of tracking transportation and logistics operations. From Pub/Sub, to point-to-point, to real-time data streaming, William has experience designing, building and leveraging the right tools for building a nervous system that can drive the pulse of enterprise streaming, event-driven architectures and data in motion.
