The modern data lake is becoming an important piece of an organization’s data strategy. The modern data lake is often cloud-based, it uses a services-based architecture and can handle massive amounts of diverse data. It includes augmented and automated features. The drivers for this environment include the need to support modern analytics and diverse data types, to replace legacy platforms that are no longer meeting organizational needs, and to scale out compute and storage capacity to support data and analytics workloads.
