Presentation: “Big Data – A Journey of a Thousand Decisions”
Presented by Jeff Wilts, Associate Vice President Information Management, Canadian Tire Corporation

Abstract
There is an old proverb that a journey of a thousand miles begins by taking the first step. Canadian Tire has now walked the first few miles on our Big-Data Journey. In this session, led by Jeff Wilts, AVP-Information Management at Canadian Tire, we will retrospect on the Big Data Journey that the Enterprise Information Management team at Canadian Tire has been on.
Like any great adventure story, there have been a few twists and turns and unexpected obstacles along the way. However, we believe that we are all the better for the experience.
During the session we will cover:

  1. How has the CTC understanding of Big Data evolved, how can we now use it and exploit it to our businesses’ benefit?
  2. What were the key decisions that we had to make, how did we evaluate our options, and what would we do differently?
  3. How has the overall architectural approach changed?
  4. What have we loaded in our environment
  5. What is next for us?

It has been an interesting and enlightening journey that we have been on, and we very much look forward to seeing what unfolds in the next few miles we travel.
