A highly motivated individual who loves anything about data and the insights that data can bring to any organization by leveraging new and cutting edge big data technology.

My data curiosity has driven my intellectual pursuits by obtaining a Masters in Management Analytics from Queens University. Where I have developed a deep understanding of advanced analytics, statistical modeling and machine learning capabilities to drive data driven decision making to bring the art of the possible.

Bios of Presenters

Presenter #1 - Lawrence Jordan, Director Data Science & Co-Lead of Wealth Management Analytics, RBC Wealth Management 
A highly motivated individual who loves anything about data and the insights that data can bring to any organization by leveraging new and cutting edge big data technology.
My data curiosity has driven my intellectual pursuits by obtaining a Masters in Management Analytics from Queens University. Where I have developed a deep understanding of advanced analytics, statistical modeling and machine learning capabilities to drive data driven decision making to bring the art of the possible.
I currently lead a team of high performing data scientists with in the Wealth Management space where I bring them together with key business stakeholders to identify opportunities and solve complex analytical problems. With my thought leadership in the big data space and my industry experience I have been able to develop, direct and deliver projects in big data analytics using scrum agile principles in such areas as business development, marketing campaign analysis, client segmentation, finance, and investment analysis.

Jason W Smith is a Business Intelligence leader at The Co-operators Insurance Group.   He is part of a dynamic group that is changing the way his company makes decisions today.  He is responsible to drive adoption of story telling in the company and to ensure enablement of analytics in the decision-making process at The Co-operators.

Aquib Mir
Firmex, a Deloitte Fast 50 SaaS company in Toronto, will share its journey towards data driven insights and decision-making over the last few years. We will discuss the business challenges that we had before implementing a BI solution, and how they were impacting our revenues and decision-making. Moving on, we will highlight the importance of executive sponsorship and alignment with our BI implementation goals and how to set the right expectations. We will then delve into the solution design at a high level and describe how we planned and implemented deliverables in phases. Finally, we will recap with some lessons learned on the journey, in terms of challenges, planning, managing expectations and delivery.

Aquib Mir has been in the data and analytics space for over 10 years, working on designing and modeling data warehouses and reporting systems in the telco, financial and file hosting sectors. I have worked at large corporations and small SaaS companies, accumulating a diverse experience in different working environments and various technical platforms.
