  • What common types of analytics solutions do businesses use for decision making?
  • What should IT professionals consider regarding data acquisition for purposes of creating business values?

Understanding how data is used in real business applications for making strategic decisions is key for planning the acquisition of any data type. By understanding what elements contribute the most, what analytical exercises offer the most, and what IT professionals should consider in regards to data acquisition, brands can make better investment decisions about how to acquire and maintain data assets and increase their ROI.

Jim Schattin, Alteryx
Jim is the vice president of customer success at Alteryx, with 18 years of experience in enterprise software development, technical sales, and evangelism. 
He is experienced in designing advanced analytical solutions that solve practical business challenges, primarily focused on:

  • Customer Analytics
  • Spatial Analytics
  • ETL                   

Prior to joining Alteryx, Jim spent 8 years at Platts, a division of the McGraw-Hill Companies, building both desktop and web GIS platforms specifically targeted for analysts within the energy industry.   

Andrew Ahn, Waterline
Andrew Ahn is the senior director of product management for Waterline Data. He has over 12 years of experience in enterprise-scale big data. He is an Apache Atlas committer and was the lead at Hortonworks for Hadoop governance strategy, with product duties for Apache Atlas. Prior work includes product and governance responsibilities at ICE/NYSE Euronext, spanning 12 countries and 23 market centers.

Bio of Presenter

Steve Zimmerman
Steve Zimmerman is the director of custom analytics and analytical consulting for Experian Marketing Services’ Custom Analytics team, and has been with Experian since 2010. Steve oversees all phases of analytical projects including initial consultation, project management, analysis of data, presentation of results, and post-campaign assessment. 
Steve brings over 20 years of industry experience performing statistical analysis in support of database marketing. Prior to joining Experian, he was a manager of modeling and analytics at Zurich Insurance, Discover Card, GE Financial Assurance, and The Signature Group, where he utilized his knowledge of predictive modeling, segmentation, and database marketing to provide analytical support for marketing initiatives.  
Steve has earned a Master of Science in Applied Statistics from Purdue University, and a Bachelor of Science from Creighton University with majors in Mathematics and Statistics. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Northern Illinois University in 2011.
