Presentation: Extracting Maximum Value from the Social Media Revolution. Stephen Brobst, CTO – Teradata Corp.
The Web is no longer just for geeks and kids. The blogosphere has reached proportions where it is now an accurate barometer of consumer opinion. Ignoring Web content from an analytic perspective is not an option. This session will provide case studies, tips, and techniques to show how an enterprise can exploit social media using advanced analytics for brand monitoring and consumer targeting. We will discuss a framework for combining multiple sources of social media (facebook, twitter, blogs, etc.) to provide a coherent view of consumer opinion. We will also describe how to construct a "Maven Trap" to target key influencers with leveraged marketing using social network analysis.

Presentation: Four Trends in Business Intelligence that Cannot Be Ignored. Stephen Brobst, CTO – Teradata Corp.
As the business intelligence marketplace consolidates and matures, a number of interesting trends will shape the next generation of the industry. The first trend is the impending deluge of data from massively distributed sensor networks for gathering and delivering new sources of data for analysis. The second trend is the emergence of pervasive BI, whereby organizations are proliferating business intelligence capabilities up and down the hierarchy of knowledge workers, with special emphasis on BI for operational decision making. The third trend is the shift of processing from external data marts to an integrated data warehouse approach - with radical shifts in how we architect solutions for OLAP, data mining, and data integration. The fourth trend is the integration of non-traditional data types into the data warehouse alongside traditional record-based content. These trends will be discussed with their implications upon the industry and how we architect data warehouse solutions.
