Abstract

With the ever-increasing availability, quantity, and quality of data, more and more companies are prioritizing data driven decision making: integrating their data into business decisions.

Recently, MIT Sloan Management Review and SAS Institute found that “60% of respondents agreed that senior managers are pressuring the organization to become more data-driven and analytical.  (But), only 42% of respondents said they ‘frequently’ or ‘always’ have all the data they need to make key business decisions.”  Other MIT research suggests that companies adopting data driven decision making enhance productivity 5 to 6 %.

The Indeed job site (www.indeed.com ) supports over 140 million unique visitors every month from over 50 different countries.  Since 2004, Indeed has given job seekers free access to millions of jobs from thousands of company websites and job boards.  They embrace data driven decision making by logging everything AND (critically) ensuring their decision makers can easily query resulting data.

Douglas Gray (Senior VP Engineering) and Chris Hyams (SVP Product and International Strategy) will share how Indeed captures data and uses it to drive decisions that directly influence their product design.
