Stephen Brobst:  Hadoop and the Relational Data Warehouse

We will apply real-world Silicon Valley customer cases on big data applications to show you when to use Hadoop and when to use an MPP relational data warehouse.  At a conceptual level, it is easy to think they are interchangeable, but the differences overwhelm the similarities. For this workshop, we will examine how big data technologies are being used today in practical deployments.   Beyond the hype and into the reality.

  • Learn how to determine when to use Hadoop and when to use an MPP relational database.
  • Learn from real world customer cases on big data applications from Silicon Valley.
  • Learn what to expect from Hadoop in the future, and what not to expect.
