Abstract:  A detailed look at a BI team's exploration of big data platforms and transition to new reporting tools.

Talk Title: Self-Service BI: Does It Mean Hands Off BI for IT?

Abstract: Self-Service BI has become a crucial component to an organization’s success, but what is the role of IT in this self-service model? This presentation will discuss the need to manage Self-Service BI delivery, data, training and change management to achieve strong, successful user adoption. Identify and discuss user community types and how they engage with information. Learn ways to identify user’s current business intelligence knowledge and analytic maturity. Identify methods to survey and get feedback from your user community so you can be responsive to their needs. Review techniques to engage users with training, feedback on data quality and new data needs. Discuss how to communicate and leverage security to help focus users to find their BI information more quickly and reduce the BI noise. Finally, we will review methods for ongoing change management.

Daniel Green
 
Bio: Daniel is a Nashville native who has focused on analytical application development for the past 10 years.  Daniel is currently the Business Intelligence manager at Ingram Content Group, the world's largest distributor of physical and digital content.  Prior to working at Ingram, Daniel developed analytical applications designed to foster economic development in Tennessee.

Bob Zenker

Bio: Bob, a Business Intelligence Consulting Manager, has extensive technical experience in software development, hardware infrastructure, process integration and industry best practices. He has delivered BI consulting services to over 600 US and International based companies ranging in size. His focus for over 13 years is on delivering analytics and visualizations for his customers.
