“Hadoop for Business: Enabling Success” presented by Ron Bodkin, President and Founder of ThinkBig.
Abstract:
Hadoop has landed in many organizations as an important new capability with the promise of enabling deeper insight into data. As enterprises move from experimentation to production, there is tremendous opportunity to do more with data and enable business value. In this talk Ron will discuss the key requirements for success: how to build momentum with a pilot cross-functional team, the right use cases, how to build a data lake where you have confidence in your data, and how to provide access to data in Hadoop for the business. He will draw on examples of his experience implementing Hadoop at scale for dozens of companies to illustrate the patterns and approaches to success.
He will also look at building the lake with batch and streaming ingestion approaches and how to track lineage and security of data across the lake. For providing access to the business, we explore the role of SQL-on-Hadoop, OLAP-in-Hadoop, data science analytics and downstream access in databases and what capabilities to integrate. |

Ron Bodkin
