“Business Intelligence – A Self Service Future?”
Presented by Patrick Spedding

Abstract
According to many analysts, the BI market is undergoing severe disruption.  In this talk, leading BI Specialist Patrick Spedding discusses the future of BI.

  • Gartner predicts that “by 2017, most business users and analysts in organisations will have access to self-service tools to prepare data for analysis.”
  • Forrester predicts “Managed BI self-service will continue to close the business and technology gap.”
  • And Forbes reports, “Visual data-discovery, an important enabler of end user self-service, will grow 2.5x faster than the rest of the market, becoming a requirement for all enterprises by 2018”.

One thing is clear - the balance of power in the BI and analytics sector is shifting from IT to general business users. But what does the democratisation of BI mean for business? What are the opportunities, challenges and pitfalls? And who are the real winners and losers?
