According to the 2020 TDWI survey about data management for advanced analytics, analytics users will triple or quadruple the volume of data they manage on cloud within three years. The primary home of analytics data will shift from “almost exclusively on premises” today to “almost exclusively on cloud” in three years.
This is because as users rethink their data strategies for analytics they are replatforming data warehouses, data lakes, and other large analytics data sets to be on cloud. This is no small feat, and users need to plan ahead to successfully migrate warehouses and lakes to the cloud with minimal technical difficulties and maximum business impact.
