December 18, 2020
The purported benefits of cloud computing have inspired many senior managers to approve cloud modernization plans.
These plans are intended to reduce reliance on large-scale capital acquisitions of hardware and software, migrate applications and data to cloud-based platforms, and improve application reliability and scalability.
Unfortunately, transitioning from an on-premises environment to a single cloud service provider’s environment is challenging, and more complex challenges emerge as organizations expand their hybrid, multicloud environments.
Although there are widely accepted statements of conventional wisdom regarding cloud use, these precepts might not always be so wise. In this checklist, we identify six commonly accepted beliefs about cloud computing, highlight situations where that wisdom might be challenged, and provide some ideas to mitigate those situations.
