Tony Lea, Ph.D. SVP and Chief Methodologist, Environics Analytics. The paper is overviews a privacy friendly approach to marketing and the role of geodemography in making reasonable inference about the attributes of households and individuals. This approach to marketing and targeting is very widely used in the developed world but not well-understood. Some theory underlying the approach will be presented. But the main focus will be on how the approach is executed leveraging the widely used geodemographic segmentation system PRIZM5 from Environics Analytics. Good examples of seldom seen synthetic maps of Southern Ontario at the geographical scale of the Stats Canada Dissemination Area (DA) will be shown. For example maps of the consumption of ketchup, purchasers of pick-up trucks, and users of marijuana will be presented.

How Cloud Data Warehousing will Change Analytics, and Data Overall - Snowflake is the leader in Cloud Data Warehousing and a huge disruptor in the Data Warehousing space. After only 3 years after Snowflake was released to the public, Snowflake has accumulated 1500 customers, $970M in Funding and been recognized by Gartner and Forrester as a leader in the Data Warehousing space. In this talk, Kris will discuss the challenges Snowflake is seeing in the industry, and how organizations can address those problems and future proof their data pipelines. As well, Kris will share one of the biggest data warehousing advancements ever, live data sharing between companies and the data marketplace. Snowflake has learned a great deal from their customers and looks to share those learnings with the TDWI community!

Bios of Presenters
Presenter #1. Dr. Tony Lea. As a Senior Vice President and the Chief Methodologist at Environics Analytics, Anthony Lea, Ph.D., has been overseeing  research and development initiatives, population estimates and projections, and site evaluation models for many years . He now serves as a consultant in these areas, as the chair of the methodology committee and oversees staff training and relations with educational institutions. An internationally recognized leader in geodemographics and marketing research, he provided methodological guidance in the development of several geodemographic systems including Environics Analytics PRIZM systems, led the development of EA’s WealthScapes product and, during his thirty-year career, directed hundreds of socioeconomic, demographic, marketing analysis and research projects. Prior to joining EA, Tony was Senior Research Associate with the Centre for the Study of Commercial Activity at Ryerson University, Managing Director of MapInfo Canada and Senior Vice President of Compusearch. Since 1974 Tony has taught geography, planning and quantitative methods at the University of Minnesota, University of Toronto and Queen’s University. He continues to serve as an adjunct professor with both the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Ryerson University and the Department of Geography at the University of Toronto. He received master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Toronto. He has presented hundreds of papers at a variety of geography and marketing conferences.  Tony was recognized for his career contributions to business research with the 2001 Award for Geography in the Service of Government and Business from the Canadian Association of Geographers and also received the Career Service Award from the International Council of Shopping Center (ICSC) in 2015..
Presenter#2. Kris Lawson - Kris is the Regional Director for Snowflake Canada, responsible for all customer operations. Kris joined Snowflake in June 2018 as the first employee in Canada and has grown the team to 10 across Canada. Previous to Snowflake, Kris led sales at the marketing start-ups Influitive and Vidyard. Kris started his career spending 12 years in the CRM space, helping open Salesforce's Toronto office in 2004 and growing it to 1200 team members. As well, Kris led the National team for Microsoft Dynamics. In his spare time, Kris spends time with his 4 young daughters which is like another full time job! (and he tries to mountain bike, snowboard, workout and read when not childminding)
