The best way to find the auditorium is to park on the top few levels the parking garage just South of the building, take the skywalk across to the building, and sign-in with the security guard. Then you'll take the elevators down to the lower level where the auditorium is located.

"Big Data and the Data Lake" by Scott Shaw, Solution Engineer – Hortonworks.
Abstract:
There is a lot of discussion around the concept of a Data Lake and what this means for businesses. In this presentation we will dive into the Data Lake components and provide a deep analysis of what this means along with some of the real-world challenges and successes companies have had implementing the solution. We will look at implementation design as well as explore existing Data Lake use cases being used today by some of the largest companies in the world. At the end you will know what is real and what is hype and how your Enterprise can become a data driven organization. |

Abstract:
We are in a true digital age where wearable devices that collect biometric data are revolutionizing health care, insurance and employee wellness. The Internet of Things (IoT) is taking shape where the wearable devices are connected to the cloud, integrated with existing infrastructure, and securely analyzed to provide insights to people. This presentation will feature overall industry trends, use cases as well as actual data and learnings from the deployment of 110 devices for six weeks on a population of individuals. |

Scott Shaw
Scott Shaw has over 2 years of working with Big Data. He has advised and architected Big Data solutions for dozens of Fortune 1000 Enterprises. He an author and frequent speaker at local and national technical events on topics such as the Data Lake, Hadoop integration, and Big Data use cases. Scott is currently working on a Hive book to be published by Apress publishing.
J. Patrick Bewley
J. Patrick Bewley is the CEO of Big Cloud Analytics, a real-time predictive analytics technology company for the Internet of Things (IoT). The company has developed a patent pending, secure platform and programmatic methodology that uses wearable devices to drive ROI for enterprises, payers and hospitals. The platform is currently in the global market and is used by Fortune 500 customers domestically.
