Bios of Presenters
James Vollmer
James Vollmer is a Technical Architect Consultant and current resident of Hadoop Island @ Target. As evidenced by the amount of gray hair, James is an IT veteran with 25+ years focused primarily on business intelligence, enterprise data warehousing and analytical applications in industries ranging from consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, distribution, retail and marketing. James has a BS from the University of North Dakota in Industrial Technology and a Computer Science minor (yes, we did have computers back then). While an architect in title, he still loves to get into coding for therapeutic and educational reasons.
Janine Mechelke
Janine Mechelke is a Technical Architect Consultant at Target, focused on enabling Guest Analytics and Marketing BI. She is new-ish to BI – only being in the space for a little over a year – and spent her first 6+ years at Target focusing on Merchandising application development. Before that, she worked at Ameriprise Financial supporting 401k, insurance and annuities applications in various technical roles. Janine has a BA from the University of St. Thomas in Quantitative Methods & Computer Science and Mathematics. She prides herself on being a rapid knowledge absorber and puzzle decoder. So…she asks *a lot* of questions. And she believes that everyone should be empowered to make awesome things happen on a daily basis, and have fun while they do it.
