Abstract

The Future State of BI
The market has alternated between a data focus and a front-end focus for the past 30+ years. Right now, we are entering generation four of BI and are focused on the data. What can we expect, and why should you no longer be concerned about having multiple BI tools deployed in your environment?

We will look at cataloguing, governance, metadata management, master data management, collaboration, and analyzing data usage patterns. Then we’ll address what the gaps are in the market.

BIO
Suzanne Hoffman has 25 years of experience in the business intelligence and data warehousing industry. A member of TDWI since 2006, she has worked for and with most of the major players, such as IBM Cognos, SPSS, Hyperion, Tableau, SAP, Microstrategy, Microsoft, Qlik, and others.  She has also been a thought leader and industry analyst in BI for the past few years. She has a rare perspective on the growth and evolution of the industry from multiple perspectives—vendor, consumer, analyst, and consultant. Until very recently, she helped organizations acquire BI technology and helped BI vendors assess their partner ecosystems as an independent. An opportunity she couldn’t pass up presented itself, so now she’s with the start-up ZenOptics and about to change the way we think about BI.

 Professional Experience:

The University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business – Executive Program

Smith College – AB, Economics and Mathematics

Certified PSIA Instructor and Lincoln Park Supervisor
