Q1 2015 St. Louis Area TDWI Chapter Meeting
Dear St. Louis BI/DW and Analytics Professionals,
The TDWI St. Louis Chapter cordially invites you to attend our upcoming meeting on Friday, March 6, 2015. Come meet other local BI/DW professionals, swap business cards, share ideas, and exchange career advice while listening to quality presentations in a vendor-neutral setting, which is the hallmark of TDWI education.

Directions to Meeting within the Facility:
The best way to find the auditorium is to park on the top few levels the parking garage just South of the building, take the skywalk across to the building, and sign-in with the security guard.  Then you'll take the elevators down to the lower level where the auditorium is.

"BICC or: How I Learned to Stop worrying and Love Shadow BI", by Rob Villareal, BICC and Data Governance Manager and Mike Perlmutter, Enterprise Data Services Manager at World Wide Technology, Inc.

 

Abstract:
Internal BI leaders at World Wide Technology, Inc., Rob Villareal and Mike Perlmutter, describe how to set your BI organization up for success by following today's best practices in organizational structures and architectural patterns. What started with a rogue shadow BI group became an inspirational model that transformed how the company does BI.
Mike and Rob will describe their journey in rolling out analytics teams embedded into each business vertical supported by a Business Intelligence Competency Center, and how BI and the Data Warehouse teams in IT have evolved to support this through agile principles and a focus on architecture.   It is a recipe for success that many industry leaders have advocated, and Rob and Mike will attest to that success, as well as describe some of the challenges and pitfalls they found along the way.

Abstract:
The Monsanto Vegetable Information team has deployed several new data capabilities to operational users globally. User adoption is key to the success of the program, enabling the business to use self service reporting and trust the data. This presentation will walk through some of the challenges and successes of the new reporting capabilities and business success stories.

Bios of Presenters

Rob Villareal
Rob Villareal has served in various leadership roles within IT and BI over the last 12 years and leads the BICC and Data Governance groups at WWT.
Mike Perlmutter
Mike Perlmutter has 15 years of experience in BI and Data Warehousing and serves as WWT’s Enterprise Data Services Manager, overseeing the BI, Data Warehouse, Data Quality, Data Integration, and Data Architecture teams in WWT’s internal IT department.
Divyesh Panchal
Divyesh Panchal has worked for Monsanto for 10 years, serving in various leadership roles within the organization over that time.  He is currently the Director of Global IT Strategy and Information in the Vegetable Seeds organization.
