As more organizations expand their data architecture’s footprint across a hybrid multicloud environment, questions arise about the ability to enable all varieties of data consumers to access and use enterprise data. Traditional data warehousing approaches would seek to extract and move data to a warehouse repository. However, this model is inefficient in terms of increasing cloud costs for data exfiltration and movement. It still puts the burden of data integration on the IT team to ensure that data consumer needs are supported, and limits accessibility to the selected data sets that are pushed to the data warehouse.
Increasingly, vendors are recognizing the value of establishing a semantic layer on top of the underlying data assets to enable democratized data access that scales with data volumes and computational load. In this webinar, we introduce the fundamental aspects of a scalable semantic layer that helps rapidly deliver business insights and explore how a semantic layer simplifies data integration and access while optimizing query performance across distributed data assets.
Attendees will learn about:
- How virtualization (and federation) enables multimodal data access
- Developing semantic models to harmonize data views
- Using the semantic layer to facilitate query optimization
- Integrating data protections within the semantic layer
