In today’s dynamic environment, organizations need to move fast in order to stay competitive. That means they need analytics results and insights quickly. No longer can organizations wait weeks or even a month to get access to a data set in order to create reports or dashboards. They need to make decisions while the data is still relevant to the business. These organizations want agility—the ability to sense change, adjust behavior, and take advantage of unexpected opportunities.
In a recent TDWI Best Practices Report survey, over one-third of respondents say they need some improvement with their data pipeline development and operationalization and about a quarter are looking for a major upgrade.
That is where the agile data pipeline comes in. An agile pipeline includes features such as automation in the onboarding and maintenance process, universal data connectivity for a wide range of sources including structured and unstructured data as well as SaaS systems such as ERP and CRM. The pipeline should be scalable and flexible and handle different data types and speeds.
