Webinar Abstract

Gut instinct alone is not enough to enable decisions that will drive success. Most businesses today believe in the power of BI and analytics to help drive insight and value. TDWI research indicates that the vast majority of organizations are using technology such as visual analytics and BI dashboards to help them gain insight. However, gaining insight and using that insight to make decisions are often two different things.

Organizations are using a range of strategies to become data-driven. One of the most popular strategies is to democratize analytics by using self-service visualization and analytics. Early adopters are also using more advanced analytics, such as predictive analytics. Some are embedding analytics into systems and processes that drive action.

The reality, however, is that becoming data-driven involves culture as well as technology. It is about using data to take decisive action, in addition to building relationships and trust around the data and how people look at the data and perform analysis. The current state of affairs is a mixed bag – some organizations are moving towards becoming data-driven, while others are still very much in their infancy.

Join Fern Halper, TDWI VP and senior research director for advanced analytics, and David Stodder, senior research director for BI, to learn more about the research from their new Best Practices Report about what it takes to become data-driven. They will discuss their findings and present recommendations for organizational and technology best practices.
