TDWI Insight Accelerator | Transitioning to a Modern, Flexible, and Scalable Data Architecture in the Cloud
June 10, 2022
Organizations that want to benefit from cloud computing need to acknowledge that legacy on-premises data environments do not offer the same benefits as a modernized cloud data architecture.
Legacy on-premises data warehouse architectures impose limitations in utility due to the rigidity of the traditional data warehouse model, batch data integration and warehouse population, and constrained data accessibility. As the demand for data democratization drives increasing expectations for self-service flexibility, organizations can no longer rely on their legacy data architectures to address their anticipated needs.
Although lifting and shifting existing on-premises application footprints may seem to be the most expedient way to migrate to the cloud, that tactic does not contribute to data architecture modernization in any material way.
This TDWI Insight Accelerator discusses adopting a modern cloud-based data architecture that fulfills existing requirements, emerging business requirements, and increased computational demands from more sophisticated analyses or growing numbers of data consumers.
