Choosing the Right Master Data Management for Your Cloud Journey

Webinar Speaker: Markum Reed, Research Director for Data Management, TDWI

Date: Thursday, September 22, 2022

Time: 9:00 a.m. PT, 12:00 p.m. ET

In a recent TDWI study, 77 percent of participants agreed that cloud data platforms are the future of data management. Therefore, many organizations will likely consider moving or implementing master data management (MDM) in the cloud.

Cloud MDM is used to transmit files securely and ensure that an organization always works with up-to-date and accurate versions of data to make efficient and informed business decisions. Many advantages should drive organizations to look at the cloud as a base for their current and future MDM implementations, including cost efficiencies and agility benefits.

When implementing MDM in the cloud, organizations must look at different offerings that combine product capabilities with cloud management service levels. Some have not modernized their legacy products and only offer cloud services that cannot leverage dynamic cloud features.

If organizations have not yet implemented an MDM solution, they should look for one that runs on the cloud. If an organization has an existing MDM platform operating on premises, it would be wise to migrate the MDM implementation to the cloud. We will discuss the key concepts to consider.

Starting a cloud journey is worth considering due to the proven benefits of cloud platforms versus on-premises implementations. Of course, this is not for every organization, as some have usage, security, and regulatory concerns. The cloud choices are many, complex, and not always obvious. For these reasons, it is essential to recognize where the organization is on its modernization journey. The organization must understand if it will be migrating an existing on-premises MDM implementation to the cloud or if it will be re-platforming.

In this talk, we aim to focus on:

  • Features for MDM in a cloud versus on premises
  • Cloud-native MDM architectures
  • Migrating an existing on-premises MDM implementation to the cloud
  • Re-platforming to a new MDM solution in the cloud
