Presentation: Why Has Governance Become so Challenging? by Mark Peco, CBIP |
|
The expanding and evolving footprint of business intelligence, analytics and data-driven solutions is creating new challenges for governance strategies and approaches.
More components are now required to achieve the growing ambitions of many organizations. Governance must expand its footprint to address these changing needs from just few short years ago. Governance was previously primarily focuses on data. However as data-driven processes become enabled by analytic models and new decision making approaches, governance must evolve to include data, analytic models, decision processes, human skills, data literacy and corporate culture. The fundamental shift that is now occurring is the based on the need to govern capabilities instead of just assets.
This presentation provides a framework that can be used to understand the evolving scope and dimensions of governance that are needed to effectively obtain the benefits of the data-driven journey that many organizations are taking. Governance needs to be re-framed and re-positioned to meet the evolving requirements imposed by organizations’ data analytics ambitions that are enabled by new forms of technology, platforms, content and capabilities. |
