Know and Protect Your Data, And Connect Your Eco System
Webinar Speaker: James Kobielus, Senior Research Director, Data Management

Data governance unlocks business opportunities while helping organizations to mitigate diverse legal, regulatory, business, and technical risks.
Strong governance helps organizations to understand their data thoroughly by instituting robust processes for discovering, validating, matching, merging, cleansing, accessing, and searching this precious asset. It empowers data stewards with the tools for identifying when data is corrupt, inaccurate, or out-of-date, or when it’s being analyzed out of context.
However, in spite of its critical importance, data governance is still a work in progress in many organizations. Siloed legacy data architectures impede data rollup, sharing, dissemination, and protection. Fragmented data architectures make it difficult to perform data governance functions—such as preparing master data records, tracing data lineage, inventorying and cataloging data, and applying granular security—in a coherent cross-domain fashion.
Join TDWI’s senior research director James Kobielus on this webinar to explore how organizations are using robust governance practices to keep their data assets fit for consumption in reporting, business analytics, machine learning, and other key business applications. He will examine the three principal pillars of strong data governance:
- Know your data: Implement comprehensive processes to understand, classify, and track data and its usage
- Protect your data: Secure sensitive data with policy-based access controls
- Unlock your data: Securely collaborate with data and maximize existing data governance investments
