The Information Gap: Driving Cultural Alignment in Analytics

Webinar Speaker: Fern Halper, TDWI VP Research, Senior Research Director for Advanced Analytics

Date: Tuesday, September 21, 2021

Time: 9:00 a.m. PT, 12:00 p.m. ET

Today’s organizations are collecting more data than ever. TDWI research indicates that organizations are collecting hundreds of terabytes and even petabytes of data. This data is diverse, too. For instance, text data collection is already mainstream. Machine data collection is growing. However, it is one thing to collect the data; it is another to be able to use it to gain information and insights. This is the “information gap”—the failure to turn raw data into insights, information, and knowledge that provide competitive advantage.

Remedying the information gap requires a solid data infrastructure, new tools, and governance. Alongside these, and as important, closing the gap also requires skills and culture. At TDWI, we often see organizations swimming in data, yet they are not organized to execute, or they lack data literacy, or they do not believe in the value of analytics. We see data analysts who want to grow their data science skills, but they are still helping business users with their requirements. We see data scientists building machine learning models, but not working off common data with the rest of the organization. All of this leads to frustration, untrusted results, and the inability to gain insight and value from data.

Join this webinar to learn more about building a culture for analytics. We’ll also discuss how Matillion has helped its customers close the information gap.
