To address the increasing complexity of the data and analytics landscape, organizations are using more diverse data sources to support modern analytics, such as machine learning, AI, and now generative AI. To manage this, organizations are dealing with multiple platform types including cloud data warehouses, cloud data lakes, and database management systems, as well as data lakehouses. The number and type of different platforms has led data governance to be cited as the top data management priority for the past five years in TDWI surveys.
