TDWI Playbook | Cloud Data Integration: What Is It and Why Does It Matter?
October 26, 2022
To deal with high volumes of complex data from diverse sources, many organizations are moving to cloud platforms.
In order to support data in a cloud environment, data integration is essential. It can include discovering and extracting data from various sources; enriching, cleaning, normalizing, and combining data; and loading and organizing data in databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
However, TDWI research indicates that data integration is a top challenge for organizations moving to the cloud. We often hear that organizations have issues with poor data quality and inconsistent or duplicated data going into the cloud, that their manual pipelines are brittle and prone to problems, and that there are cost issues associated with migrating multiple data sources to the cloud.
This playbook discusses the drivers and business case for integrating data in the cloud and outlines a series of critical actions for moving forward and identifying the right solution.
