Explore Documents with the NY Public Library Digital Collection

You may have to give it a minute to load first, but this site allows you to view and explore a huge amount of public domain material -- printed material of all sorts, illustrations, and much more -- made available by the New York Public Library. Organize by century, collection, even color, and hover over any tiny thumbnail for more information.
Create an 18th Century Wig

This site takes inspiration from historical fashion and allows you to build and decorate a towering 18th century hairstyle. It’s an offbeat example of interactive educational material, coming courtesy of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
