IBM today announced an improvement to how organizations engage with business content and make it more usable and interactive across the enterprise to deliver better results and improve decision making. Using a new big data service available on the IBM Cloud marketplace, organizations can now easily secure, access, and manage content from anywhere and on any device.

The service allows knowledge workers to perform their jobs more effectively and collaboratively by synchronizing and making the content they need available on any browser, desktop, and mobile device they use everyday, and to apply it in the context of key business processes. IBM Navigator on Cloud, now available on the IBM Cloud marketplace and built on Softlayer’s Cloud platform, helps all users within and outside of the business gain value from an ever-increasing deluge of content.

Today, clients and employees have come to expect the availability of critical and personal information at their fingertips, making security and privacy more important than ever before. IBM is bringing together the best of both worlds with new Enterprise Content Management (ECM) capabilities that work in regulated environments and provide easy-to-use mobile and Web apps that deliver consumer-like interactions, just like any file- sharing service available through an app store. Also, because this new technology is available on the IBM Cloud, it can be combined with any app or service.

For example, a maintenance worker in the field can use a mobile device to view the latest schematics for a piece of equipment, take photos of a damaged part, make updates to a safety document based on a repair, and synchronize this content back to the cloud, making it instantly available to colleagues on desktops or mobile devices.

A human resources manager can work on sensitive policy and procedure materials that need to be reviewed and approved by employees in several locations. Built-in mobile content management capabilities provide authorized users with secure access to manage business-critical documents and provide feedback in real time.

The new service uses IBM’s ECM technology, so an organization’s most demanding security, reliability, and scalability concerns can be addressed without compromising productivity. In addition to being a secure, scalable, and reliable platform, IBM Navigator on Cloud is also easy to use and delivered through a modern user experience. For instance, employees can quickly set up team collaboration areas that are accessible via the Web and through a seamless mobile experience. Self-provisioning capabilities allow departments such as sales, human resources, finance, or legal to easily customize the solution and content to meet their specific business needs.
