HP Unveils Big Data Analytics Platform
Big data solutions deliver deeper insight for better outcomes.

HP has released HAVEn, a set of core technologies that form a big data analytics platform, enabling organizations to create next-generation applications and solutions to accelerate the adoption and monetization of big data.
HAVEn -- which is a platform, not a product -- expands on HP’s big data solutions and services, allowing organizations to gain better insight into their data and deliver real-time outcomes.
According to Chris Selland, vice president, marketing at Vertica (a Hewlett-Packard company), “HAVEn is a set of core technologies that forms a big data analytics platform, which in turn enables the development and deployment of analytic-enabled, next-generation applications and solutions. It focuses all of the resources of HP behind helping our customers succeed with these industry and competitive changes, and ultimately brings together everything needed to profit from big data -- hardware, software, services, infrastructure, and business transformation consulting.”
The HAVEn acronym stands for:
- Hadoop
- Autonomy
- Vertica
- Enterprise Security

Selland notes that “HAVEn is ultimately much bigger than technology -- it’s an open platform for developing and deploying the solutions needed to drive business transformation and success. As an open big data platform, we support several Hadoop distros, and leverage Hadoop’s capabilities with proven technologies from HP Autonomy, HP Vertica, HP ArcSight, and HP Operations Management. The goal of HAVEn is to allow HP customers and partners to develop, deploy, and succeed with next-generation, big data-ready analytics-enabled applications and solutions.”
HAVEn enables HP clients and partners to:
- Avoid vendor lock-in with open architecture that supports a broad range of analytics tools, including major Hadoop distributions, programming languages, and an ecosystem of business intelligence (BI); visualization; and extract, transform and load (ETL) solutions.
- Protect investments with support for multiple virtualization technologies, such as VMware, Amazon, and OpenStack, as well as varied deployment methods, including on-premises, private, managed or public cloud.
- Speed time-to-value with highly optimized hardware solutions, such as HP AppSystem for Vertica, HP AppSystem for Apache Hadoop and offerings from HP partners.
- Gain value from 100 percent of information, including structured, semistructured and unstructured data via HP’s portfolio of more than 700 connectors into HAVEn.
