Webinar Abstract
While hardware and database vendors have made significant investments in performance and scalability, data integration platforms have historically focused on addressing an expansive set of functionality including data quality processing and master data management capabilities. Certainly, these functions are needed but so is performance. Heavy and complex transformations (the “T” in ETL) are the lifeblood of most BI environments – after all, transformed data forms the basis for all BI activities. Transforming data must be performed effectively and in a timely manner.
To achieve proper performance, many BI implementers turn to suboptimal work-arounds: pushing time-consuming transformations to the database and hand-coding solutions become common exits to alleviate data performance bottlenecks. The result is much more complex Data Integration environments that are difficult to maintain and to govern. In addition, they require significant expenditures to cope with constant data growth and demands for information. How can data integration be improved without breaking the bank?
During this webcast, Claudia Imhoff, industry expert and long-time BI analyst, will help you answer this question with a checklist to help determine if your Data Integration environment is performing optimally, as well as solutions to those environments requiring better performance.
