TDWI's MDM Insight Online Event was held June 16 & 17 and attended by hundreds of people. The sessions taught attendees how master data management can help companies enhance business process efficiency, connect more effectively with suppliers and customers, and drive higher sales and profits.

Jill Dyché (Baseline Consulting) and Philip Russom (TDWI Research) co-chaired this two-day, online event, featuring real-world case studies and moderated panels. Each day was a three-hour Webcast, which included:

  • How Intel approached managing supply chain and customer relationships to deliver business value with MDM
  • Forrester Research's recommendations for defining your MDM business case
  • Berkshire Life's "rules and the tools" for delivering effective master data to the enterprise

TDWI Research has surveyed and interviewed hundreds of technical practitioners and their business sponsors to answer that very question. Philip Russom will open Day 2 with broad sampling of the tools, technologies, and technical best practices users are applying to their MDM implementations.

National Instruments is this year's winner in the MDM category of the TDWI Best Practice awards. Come hear NI discuss the CDI Program from the justification to vendor selection process, solution project/program organization and roles, business impact. We will highlight the best practices and lessons learned during this entire roadmap and discuss how the company continues to realize its MDM plans.

Christine McClary has been with National Instruments since 2000 and is presently an internal consultant in the Business Intelligence group, specializing in data management. She has expertise in the areas of information requirements planning, master data management, customer data integration, data modeling, information quality improvement, and business metadata management. Christine has over 20 years of experience in information systems development and implementation at high-tech companies such as NI, GMF Robotics, and Digital Equipment Corp and at food industry companies such as Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc and Whole Foods Market.

Deepa Srinivasan is an IT Applications Manager responsible for a global team of programmer/analysts at National Instruments (NI). In her role as the project manager for the CDI program, Ms. Srinivasan works closely with business and IT to deliver customer data solutions for NI. As an IT professional with 13 years of experience, she has diverse experience in building and growing distributed technical teams, project and program management, and business application development for ERP and CRM solutions.

Vendor Panel Discussion – led by Philip Russom

MDM can be implemented many different ways, using a wide array of vendor tools and applications, plus professional services. Moderator Philip Russom will lead a panel of vendor representatives through a discussion of tools and services, so attendees know what’s available today to help them get started with an MDM implementation.

On the heels of last year’s acclaimed book on Customer Data Integration, Evan Levy and his team have been designing and implementing customer and product master data solutions for companies across industries and market segments. In this presentation, Evan will introduce critical “to dos” for MDM development. He’ll discuss lessons learned from client MDM delivery engagements and summarize a set of best practices that can serve as a checklist for your own nascent MDM development initiative!
