multiple nodes and scale up on today's beefy hardware. According to
Calpont CTO Jim Tommaney, they don't do that very well, and most
analytic databases focus on MPP to the detriment of SMP. Although
not everyone agrees with Calpont, experts concede that increasingly
beefy compute resources pose new challenges -- and opportunities --
for BI and DW.
