The Five Essential Components of a Data Strategy

June 11, 2020

Prerequisite: None

Although few would argue the need for an organization to have a comprehensive data strategy, not many have actually developed a plan to improve the access, sharing, and usage of data. Most IT organizations have comprehensive plans for applications, development tools, platforms, and even storage; few have established plans to ensure that data is managed as a business asset.

Much of the challenge in data strategy development is understanding the details and boundaries of what a plan entails. This presentation identifies the five essential components that make up a data strategy and explores the individual attributes of each component. This approach allows the audience to learn the fundamentals of data strategy and understand how the details may differ across organizations of varying complexity (a corporate division, a business unit, or an enterprise).

You Will Learn

  • The definition and concepts of data strategy
  • The five essential components of a data strategy
  • The benefits of a data strategy
  • The difference in data strategy development between small and large organizations
