Spotlight Talk: Data Governance Step One—Reference Data

July 28, 2021

Prerequisite: None

Diane Rollinson

Data Architect

Blue Cross Blue Shield Association

How do you build a successful data governance program? Step one is to create a common set of reference data shared within the organization. Reference data provides the shared language that binds the IT siloes into a more unified foundation that supports the organization. Ataccama Reference Data Manager (RDM) has provided solid support in our efforts to implement and manage our reference data as a common asset for all our applications.

This discussion will focus on how we use RDM to:

  • Foster the adoption of common reference data across the organization
  • Create pathways to data discovery
  • Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, completeness, validity, and consistency of common reference data across the organization
