The long-sought-after objective for analytical environments is to make all data useful for analytics available to all people who need it. Although life was simpler when we had a single, on-premises source of data for analytics (the enterprise data warehouse or EDW), it was also frustrating in terms of the latency inherent in getting data into the warehouse and the mismatched preparation of it for all analytics. Fast-forward to today when the cloud option has become an appealing one for data storage and analysis. It promises many benefits such as cost savings, performance, elastic storage, support for multiple analytical needs, and so on. However, it is not without its share of “gotchas.”
The goal of this presentation is to help companies with their journeys to the cloud and advise those responsible for these migrations.
Attendees will learn:
- The three strategies that must be developed for cloud deployments
- The potential pitfalls to a cloud migration and how to avoid them
