Delivering Data Analytics

There are many categories of enterprise analytics, but they all have one thing in common—they require human interaction to realize value.

Unfortunately, much of that value is often left on the table. The underuse of tools such as user interviews, persona design, stakeholder buy-in, wire-framing, iteration, adoption, and feedback greatly increase the risk of user disengagement and stakeholder frustration.

This extensive three-day workshop takes participants and their own analytics challenges through a comprehensive journey through the tools and methodologies the world’s leading analytics consulting firms use to maximize adoption, reduce risk, and achieve business value through behavioral change. By the end of the workshop, participants will walk away with dashboard wireframes specific to their own objectives and a strategy for ensuring the adoption of their completed dashboard. Throughout will be examples and case studies detailing successes and failures—and their related financial implications.

Attend all three days and earn a certificate.

There are many categories of enterprise analytics but they all have one thing in common—they require human interaction to realize value. Data visualization is the user experience aspect of that interaction.

This session explores the user-related criteria for analytics success. You will start with properly identifying and understanding the objectives of the users and work right through securing stakeholder buy-in. This hands-on session includes a series of real-world case studies that highlight both successes and pitfalls of data visualization projects.

  • Tuesday, May 24

Dashboards are often designed by a dashboard developer, whose goal is usually to simply load as many features into the dashboard as possible. However, modern consumer UX practices have abstracted complexity from the user interface, a shift that must happen for analytics and business intelligence as well.

This course takes a practical approach to addressing these problems, giving participants the knowledge and processes to ensure dashboards bring value to the business and allow for actionable insights for users. Participants will walk through a live process from business objectives right through to the creation of sketched wireframes.

Note: Registration for this course includes a $180 technology fee to cover the cost of the Dashboard Kit.

  • Wednesday, May 25

Many analytics projects start well-intentioned with much energy and effort, only to be found languishing a year on with little adoption on the front lines of the business. This session deals with the user experience factors, data visualizations, and strategies that can be employed to improve successful adoption of analytics endeavors—specifically those that involve a user interacting with the outputs.

This session takes a practical approach to addressing these problems, beginning right from project inception with user engagement through to the completion of the project. We will also address user adoption and sharing of insights to ensure an iterative lifecycle that continually evolves to user needs.
