CBIP Preparation Packages

Prerequisite: Some experience with IT projects

CBIP exams are challenging for everyone. For those new to BI, limited depth of experience can be an issue. For the seasoned BI professional, it’s the exam’s breadth of focus. TDWI’s preparation packages help test takers of all levels improve their scores. The beginner gains by interacting with those who have more experience, while veterans learn to shift their perspective from day-to-day projects to encompass the industry “big picture.”

The mandatory exam preparation packages, Package 1 and 2 outlined below, are designed for everyone seeking CBIP certification regardless of their chosen specialty and can easily be extended with packages tailored to each of the CBIP specialties.

Note: Time is allotted at the end of each half-day CBIP Preparation Course to take the exam. CBIP exams are brought by the instructor on a USB; attendees need only provide laptops for testing.

Package 1
Business Core Exam and Data Foundations Exam Preparation

Two Days

Designed to prepare attendees for two of the exams that are required for all CBIP specialties—the Business Core Exam and the Data Foundations Exam. The agenda includes:

• TDWI Business Intelligence and Analytics Foundations: Charting the Course to Data-Driven Success – A one-day course of the core concepts and terminology of data warehousing.
• CBIP Preparation for the Business Core Exam - A half-day intensive exploration of the Business Core Exam body of knowledge, followed immediately with an opportunity to take the exam.
• CBIP Preparation for the Data Foundations Exam - A half-day intensive exploration of the Data Foundations Exam body of knowledge, followed immediately with an opportunity to take the exam.

Package 2
Information Systems Core Exam and Data Foundations Exam Preparation

Two Days

Designed to prepare attendees for two of the exams that are required for all CBIP specialties—the Information Systems Core Exam and the Data Foundations Exam. The agenda includes:

• TDWI Business Intelligence and Analytics Foundations: Charting the Course to Data-Driven Success – A one-day course of the core concepts and terminology of data warehousing.
• CBIP Preparation for the Information Systems Core Exam - A half day intensive exploration of the Information Systems Core Exam body of knowledge, followed immediately with an opportunity to take the exam.
• CBIP Preparation for the Data Foundations Exam - A half day intensive exploration of the Data Foundations Exam body of knowledge, followed immediately with an opportunity to take the exam.

Package 3
Leadership and Management Specialty Preparation

Two Days

Prepares attendees for knowledge testing in the area of leadership and management, which in combination with the two required exams meets the requirements to become CBIP-certified in Leadership and Management. The agenda includes:

• TDWI BI Program Management: A Competency Center Approach to BI Excellence –A one-day course encompassing business alignment, value management, quality management, change management, and risk management.
• CBIP Preparation for the Leadership and Management Exam - An intensive exploration of the Management Exam body of knowledge, followed immediately with an opportunity to take the exam.

Package 4
Business Analytics Specialty Preparation

Three Days

Helps prepare for knowledge testing in the area of business analytics, which in combination with the two required exams meets the requirements to become CBIP-certified in Business Analytics. The agenda includes:

• TDWI Analytics Principals and Practices –A one-day course covering analytics concepts, techniques, and terminology.
• TDWI Information Dashboard Design –A one-day course of business metrics definition, design, and modeling techniques, and a refresher of business applications for metrics.
• CBIP Preparation for the Business Analytics Exam - An intensive exploration of the Business Analytics Exam body of knowledge, followed immediately with an opportunity to take the exam.

Package 5
Data Analysis and Design Specialty Preparation

Three Days

This package is designed to prepare attendees for knowledge testing in the area of data analysis and design, which in combination with the two required exams meets the requirements to become certified in Data Analysis and Design. The agenda includes:

• TDWI Data Modeling –A one-day course of data modeling concepts and techniques from requirements analysis to physical database design.
• TDWI Dimensional Data Modeling Primer –A one-day course of the concepts, techniques and terminology for dimensional data analysis and star schema design.
• CBIP Preparation for the Data Management Exam - An intensive exploration of the Data Management Exam body of knowledge, followed immediately with an opportunity to take the exam.

Package 6
Data Integration Specialty Preparation

Two Days

Prepares students for knowledge testing in the area of data integration, which in combination with the two required exams meets the requirements to become certified in Data Integration. The agenda includes:

• TDWI Data Integration Principles and Practices – A one-day course of techniques, technologies, and terminology of data integration.
• CBIP Preparation for the Data Integration Exam - An intensive exploration of the Systems Development Exam body of knowledge, followed immediately with an opportunity to take the exam.
