Master's Student in Chemical Engineering
Emma Bédard’s journey to elite cycling started with four years of competitive rowing at Princeton University—one of which she was named to Canada’s under-23 (U23) rowing team. After graduating with a degree in chemical and biological engineering, Emma moved to Alberta and gained five years of experience working for Schlumberger, Accenture, and a sports technology company—all while keeping active and channeling her endurance training into triathlon, which ultimately led to cycling. Intent on fulfilling her curiosity in the biomedical field, Emma is currently in Montreal pursuing a master’s degree in chemical engineering and experimental surgery at McGill University. She hopes to eventually launch her own business in biomedical technologies. If she is not riding one of her road bikes, you will find her in the trails on a mountain bike or in the lab! Emma’s first season (2016–2017) as a road racer was with the Quebec-based SAS-Macogep-Acquisio women’s cycling team, and she intends to follow her passion for cycling and see how far she can go with it.
