"Self-service" is about empowering an increasing range of users—business executives, line-of-business managers, frontline personnel, business and data analysts, data scientists, and even customers and business partners—with intuitive, easier-to-use experiences with data. TDWI research finds that enabling users to do more on their own with less IT intervention is a high priority in nearly every organization.
Self-service technologies are advancing beyond visual data discovery and dashboards to include analytics, data preparation and transformation, data pipeline development, data integration and management, and data discovery. Today, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation are advancing the state of self-service technologies as organizations look to optimize processes as well.
In this kick-off session for the event, Fern Halper and Claudia Imhoff will discuss what self-service is, why it is becoming a mandatory component of an analytics environment, how organizations are making use of it today, the challenges they are facing, and what the future holds for self-service.
