He is responsible for developing Thoughtworks’ unique approaches to data and AI, such as the data mesh and CD4ML. Author of DevOps in Practice, Danilo was named by DataIQ as one of the U.K.'s 100 most influential people in data in 2022, 2023, and 2024. His work with ITV won the DataIQ “Shared data, shared culture” award in 2022.
A recent survey of 350 data leaders revealed that 96% of organizations are engaged in or planning data modernization efforts. They face persistent challenges such as data quality, governance issues, and legacy architecture complexity. Data mesh offers a transformative socio-technical approach to reimagine data organization structures and architectures to help scale value delivery.
This half-day masterclass is designed to immerse participants in the core principles of the data mesh, guiding them through hands-on activities to apply these principles to use cases. Participants will explore the four pillars of the data mesh: domain-oriented decentralized data ownership, data as a product, self-serve data infrastructure, and federated computational governance.
Throughout the class, attendees will complete workshops based on a case study from an organization facing data challenges, progressively tackling each challenge by applying the data mesh principles. By the end of the course, participants will have a good understanding of the data mesh and will be prepared to bring it into their own organizations. Students will leave with ideas about how to reimagine their data architecture and operating model to turn data potential into tangible business value.
