MDM Readiness Assessment Tool, designed by TDWI and Baseline Consulting

11/20/08

TDWI’s latest on-line survey will help you understand and evaluate the pieces are in place in your company that determine whether you need master data management, and how ready you are to adopt and deploy MDM.

TDWI is pleased to announce its latest online assessment tool, the Master Data Management Readiness Assessment. This interactive survey has been designed to help you gauge how prepared your company is to acquire an MDM solution and launch a sustainable MDM program. The assessment tool is multidisciplinary and includes comprehensive questions across six MDM capability categories. In addition to helping you understand the critical success factors inherent in robust MDM deployment, the assessment tool will help fill the gaps in your current environment to ensure that MDM is not only a core component of your information deployment infrastructure, but a critical business enabler as well.

The survey’s authors, Jill Dyché and Evan Levy from Baseline Consulting, wrote the first book on the topic of customer MDM and have extensive knowledge of MDM best practices. The assessment tool leverages the structured methodology used in one of Baseline's key MDM delivery services, and includes:

  • Scores across six MDM capability categories that reflect MDM best practices
  • Explanations of your scores for each category
  • A comparison of how your survey responses compare with those of other survey-takers
  • The option to filter your results by other variables such as industry, revenue, geography, and MDM status
  • A helpful report, “TDWI MDM Readiness Assessment: Interpreting Your Scores,” to help you interpret your survey results
  • A complimentary white paper from Baseline Consulting that describes the five levels of MDM maturity

The assessment tool should take about 30 minutes to complete. When you finish, you'll have a much better idea of what to start working on now to either improve a nascent MDM effort or put the pieces in place to launch your new MDM initiative. Either way, you'll have an enhanced understanding of the diverse components of MDM success.
