How Do You Become Certified?
CBIP certification requires successful completion of three exams. Two of the exams—the IS Core Exam and the Data Warehousing Exam—are required for everyone. The third exam is offered in four different specialty areas. (You can become certified in multiple specialty areas by taking the exams for each desired area.)
Practitioner level is awarded to BI professionals who score at or above 50 percent on each of the three exams. This demonstrates a working knowledge of concepts, skills, and techniques within the given specialty area, as well as the ability to assume leadership responsibilities in that specialty at both project and program levels.
Mastery level is the highest level of achievement. It is awarded to professionals who score at or above 70 percent on each of their three exams, indicating that concepts, skills, and best practices have been mastered within the specialty. Mastery-level CBIP professionals have demonstrated the ability to effectively lead a team at the project and program levels; they also have the skills to mentor others.
